Step-by-Step Programming Instructions:

For vehicles equipped with a Key or Remotehead Key system, you’ll need two previously programmed keys to add a third key. If you only have one working key, you can consider renting a programmer or contacting a locksmith. Here are the instructions:

1. Start by inserting the first previously programmed key into the ignition.

2. Turn the ignition from off to on and keep it on for at least three seconds, but no more than 10 seconds.

3. Turn the ignition off and remove the first key.

4. After three seconds but within ten seconds of turning the ignition off, insert the second previously programmed key into the ignition.

5. Turn the ignition from off to on and keep it on for at least three seconds, but no more than 10 seconds.

6. Turn the ignition off and remove the second previously programmed key.

7. After three seconds but within 20 seconds of turning the ignition off and removing the previously programmed key, insert the new unprogrammed key into the ignition.

8. Turn the ignition from off to on and keep it on for at least six seconds.

9. Remove the newly programmed key from the ignition. If successful, the key will start the vehicle’s engine and operate the remote entry system if applicable. If unsuccessful, wait 20 seconds and repeat Steps 1 through 8.

For vehicles with a Smart Key system, you’ll also need two previously programmed keys to add a third key. If you have one working key, you can rent a programmer. Here’s how to proceed:

1. Place the new unprogrammed smart key in the pocket inside the center console.

2. Press the driver or passenger power door unlock control three times.

3. Press and release the brake pedal once.

4. Press the driver or passenger power door lock control three times.

5. Press and release the brake pedal once. The indicator on the Start/Stop button should rapidly flash, indicating programming mode and detection of two programmed smart keys in the vehicle.

6. Within one minute, press the start/stop button. A message will confirm that the new smart key was programmed. If four smart keys are already programmed, a message stating “MAX # OF KEYS LEARNED” will be displayed.

7. Remove the smart key from the center console pocket and press the unlock button on the newly programmed smart key(s) to exit programming mode.
