For remotes with a Black Toyota Logo on the back, follow these steps:
1. Open the driver’s door and remove the remote transmitter from the ignition switch slot.
2. Within 5 seconds, insert and remove the remote transmitter from the ignition switch slot twice.
3. Within 40 seconds, close and open the driver’s door twice.
4. Insert and remove the remote transmitter from the ignition switch slot again.
5. Close and open the driver’s door twice.
6. Insert the remote transmitter into the ignition switch slot and close the driver’s door within 40 seconds.
7. Note: Do not depress the brake pedal during the following operation.
8. Press the POWER button to switch the ignition ON (amber LED illuminated) and OFF once to program a remote transmitter code while retaining the original code, or twice to program a remote transmitter code while erasing the original codes.
9. Press the button three times to check how many remote transmitters are currently registered, or five times to erase all registered codes.
10. Remove the remote transmitter from the ignition switch slot within 5 seconds.
11. Within 5 seconds, the system should lock and unlock the vehicle once, twice, or five times depending on the selected mode. One to four times, slowly, to indicate the number of remote transmitters registered.
12. Within 40 seconds, press and hold the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons simultaneously for 1.5 seconds.
13. Within 3 seconds, press the LOCK button. The system should now lock and unlock the vehicle once to confirm registration, or twice to indicate registration has failed.
14. Within 40 seconds, repeat the button procedure to program the remaining remote transmitter.
15. Note: To exit programming mode, open the driver’s door.
16. Note: A maximum of 4 remote transmitters can be programmed. Remote transmitters can also be programmed using diagnostic equipment.
