Step-by-Step Programming Instructions:

1. Begin by finding an automotive locksmith in your area through LocateALocksmith.com.
2. For Avalon models with separate key and remote:
a. Ensure the key is out of the ignition, the driver’s door is open, all other doors are closed, and the driver’s door is unlocked.
b. Within 5 seconds:
i. Insert the key into the ignition (do NOT turn) and then pull it out.
ii. Insert the key into the ignition (do NOT turn) and then pull it out.
c. Within 40 seconds:
i. Close and then open the driver’s door.
ii. Close and then open the driver’s door.
iii. Insert the key into the ignition (do NOT turn) and then pull it out.
d. Within 40 seconds:
i. Close and then open the driver’s door.
ii. Close and then open the driver’s door.
iii. Insert the key into the ignition and leave it there.
iv. Close the driver’s door.
v. Turn the ignition to ON (do NOT start), then back to OFF.
vi. Remove the key from the ignition.
e. Within 3 seconds, the power door locks should cycle, indicating successful entry into programming mode. If not, return to step 1.
3. Within 40 seconds:
a. Press the lock and unlock buttons on the remote simultaneously for 1.5 seconds.
b. Immediately after releasing the buttons, press the lock button by itself and hold for 2 seconds. Within 3 seconds, the door locks should cycle once, indicating successful programming. If the door locks cycle twice, repeat steps a and b in this step, as the remote was not accepted.
c. Repeat steps a and b for each new remote.
4. Open the driver’s door.
