Step by Step How to Programming Instructions:
Step 1: Insert the new key into the ignition and turn it to the ON position (as far as you can go without cranking the engine). The security light on the dashboard will flash for fifteen minutes.
Step 2: When the security light stops flashing, turn the ignition OFF and then back to the ON position. The security light will flash for another fifteen minutes.
Step 3: Again, when the security light stops flashing, turn the ignition OFF and then back to the ON position. The security light will flash for another fifteen minutes.
Step 4: After the security light stops flashing for the third time, turn the key to the OFF position. Then, turn the key to the ON position, and the security light should stop flashing, indicating that the new key has been programmed.
Step 5: Start the vehicle to test the new key.
As for programming a second key yourself if you have one working key:
Step 1: Insert the existing working key into the ignition and turn it to the ON position, then back to the OFF position.
Step 2: Within 5 seconds, insert the new key into the ignition and turn it to the ON position. The security light will light up for 2 seconds to indicate successful programming. Turn the key to the OFF position.
Step 3: Start the vehicle to test the new key.
