How to Program a 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe Ignition Smart Chip Key Transponder
Step by Step How to Programming Instructions:
Each vehicle can accommodate up to eight matched transmitters.
Programming with Recognized Transmitters:
A new transmitter can be programmed to the vehicle when there are two recognized transmitters available. To program, ensure the vehicle is turned off and all transmitters, both recognized and new, are present with you.
1. Place the two recognized transmitters in the front cup holder.
2. Remove the key lock cylinder cap on the driver door handle. Insert the vehicle key into the key lock cylinder on the driver door and turn the key counterclockwise to the unlock position five times within 10 seconds. The DIC (Driver Information Center) will display “READY FOR REMOTE #2, 3, 4, ETC.”
3. Place the new transmitter into the front cup holder.
4. Press the ENGINE START/STOP button. Once the transmitter is learned, the DIC will indicate readiness to program the next transmitter.
5. Remove the transmitter from the cup holder and press the transmitter’s Unlock or Lock button. To program additional transmitters, repeat Steps 3–5. When all additional transmitters are programmed, press and hold ENGINE START/STOP for 12 seconds to exit programming mode.
6. Return the key to the transmitter.
7. Replace the key lock cylinder cap.
Programming without Recognized Transmitters:
If two recognized transmitters are not available, follow this procedure to program up to eight transmitters. Note: This feature is not available in Canada. This procedure takes approximately 30 minutes to complete and requires all transmitters you wish to program.
1. Remove the key lock cylinder cap on the driver door handle. Insert the vehicle key into the key lock cylinder on the driver door handle and turn the key counterclockwise to the unlock position five times within 10 seconds. The DIC will display “REMOTE LEARN PENDING, PLEASE WAIT.”
2. Wait for 10 minutes until the DIC displays “PRESS ENGINE START BUTTON TO LEARN” and then press ENGINE START/STOP. The DIC will again show “REMOTE LEARN PENDING, PLEASE WAIT.”
3. Repeat Step 2 two additional times. After the third time, all previously known transmitters will no longer work with the vehicle. The DIC should now show “READY FOR REMOTE #1.”
4. Place the new transmitter into the front cup holder.
5. Press ENGINE START/STOP. Once the transmitter is learned, the DIC will indicate readiness to program the next transmitter.
6. Remove the transmitter from the cup holder and press the transmitter’s UNLOCK or LOCK button. To program additional transmitters, repeat Steps 4–6. When all additional transmitters are programmed, press and hold ENGINE START/STOP for 12 seconds to exit programming mode.
7. Return the key to the transmitter.
8. Replace the key lock cylinder cap.
