How to Program a 2013 Mazda CX-9 Ignition Smart Chip Key Transponder
Step by Step How to Programming Instructions:
Use the following steps to program the key for a transponder-equipped Raider. You must have two working programmed keys to use this procedure.
1. Insert the first programmed key into the ignition and turn the ignition switch to ON. Wait for approximately 3 seconds, then turn the ignition to OFF and remove the key.
2. Within 15 seconds of removing the first key, insert the second programmed key into the ignition and turn the ignition switch to ON. Wait approximately 10 seconds. You will see the immobilizer warning lamp illuminate on the dash, and you will hear an audible tone. Turn the ignition OFF and remove the key.
3. Within 50 seconds, insert the new unprogrammed key into the ignition. Turn the ignition switch to ON. After approximately 10 seconds, you should hear an audible tone, and the immobilizer lamp will remain illuminated for 3 seconds. Once this occurs, programming is completed.
4. For each additional key, you must repeat these steps starting with step number 1.
Use these instructions to program the remote. This programming procedure requires you to already have at least 1 working original remote transmitter (all buttons must be functional). If you do not have any remote transmitters, you must get the new one programmed by a locksmith. Obtain all remote transmitters for this vehicle. Any existing keys/remote transmitters not used during programming will become inoperative, so make sure to reprogram them during the procedure described below.
Sit in the vehicle with all doors closed and the driver’s seatbelt on. Make sure no one else is in the vehicle.
1. Put the key in the ignition and turn the ignition switch to the ON position (as far as you can turn the key without cranking the engine).
2. Using a programmed key/remote transmitter, perform the following: Press and hold the UNLOCK button. After holding the UNLOCK button for at least 4 seconds, continue holding the UNLOCK button and also press the PANIC button within 6 seconds. Ensure an acoustic signal is emitted indicating programming mode active. Release both buttons.
3. Within 60 seconds, carry out the following procedure for each remaining key/remote transmitter: On the unprogrammed remote, press both the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons at the same time for 2 seconds, then release both buttons. Ensure an acoustic signal is emitted. Within 4 seconds, press and release the UNLOCK button. Ensure an acoustic signal is emitted.
4. Repeat step 3 now for each remaining key/remote transmitters, including working remotes.
5. Switch the ignition to the OFF position or wait 60 seconds to exit programming mode.
6. Programming is now complete. Test all remotes to ensure proper programming. Please note: a maximum of 6 key remote transmitters can be programmed.
