How to Program a 2013 Ford Taurus Ignition Smart Chip Key Transponder

Step by Step How to Programming Instructions:

If your Ford Fusion uses the remote/flip key system, follow these step-by-step instructions. Ensure you have two previously programmed keys and the new unprogrammed key readily accessible. If you lack two previously programmed keys, a locksmith is needed to cut and program a second key. Alternatively, if you have one working key, you can rent a programmer.

1. Insert the first previously programmed key into the ignition.
2. Turn the ignition from off to on. Keep it on for at least three seconds, but no more than ten seconds.
3. Turn the ignition off and remove the first programmed key.
4. Within ten seconds of switching off the ignition, insert the second previously programmed key.
5. Turn the ignition from off to on. Keep it on for at least three seconds, but no more than ten seconds.
6. Turn the ignition off and remove the second previously programmed key.
7. Within ten seconds of switching off the ignition and removing the previously programmed key, insert the new unprogrammed key into the ignition.
8. Turn the ignition from off to on. Keep it on for at least six seconds.
9. Remove the newly programmed key from the ignition. If successfully programmed, it will start the engine and operate the remote entry system (if the new key is an integrated key head transmitter). If unsuccessful, wait ten seconds and repeat Steps 1 through 8.

For Ford Fusion Smart Key System:

Note: You can program a maximum of four smart keys to your vehicle. Ensure you have two previously programmed keys and the new unprogrammed key readily accessible. If you lack two previously programmed keys, a locksmith is needed to cut and program a second key. Alternatively, if you have one working key, you can rent a programmer.

Ensure the vehicle is off before starting. Close all doors before beginning and keep them closed throughout the procedure. Complete all steps within 30 seconds of starting the sequence. If any steps are performed out of sequence, stop and wait for at least one minute before starting again.

1. Place a programmed smart key in the backup slot in the center console, with the key ring at the top and the buttons facing toward the rear.
2. Wait 5 seconds, then press the START/STOP button.
3. Remove the smart key.
4. Within 10 seconds, place a second programmed smart key in the backup slot and press the START/STOP button.
5. Wait 5 seconds, then press the START/STOP button again.
6. Remove the smart key.
7. Wait 5 seconds, then place the unprogrammed smart key in the backup slot and press the START/STOP button. Programming is now complete. Verify the remote control functions operate and the vehicle starts with the new intelligent smart key. If programming was not successful, wait 10 seconds and repeat Steps 1 through 7.
