How to Program a 2011 Ford Ranger Ignition Chip Key Transponder
Step by Step How to Programming Instructions:
To program the key portion, you’ll need two existing working keys. If you have only one working key, you’ll either need a locksmith to program a second key or acquire a programmer.
Here are the steps:
1. Insert one of the existing working keys into the ignition cylinder.
2. Turn the ignition cylinder to the ON (RUN) position and then back to OFF.
3. Remove the first working key and, within five seconds, insert the second working key. Turn it to ON (RUN) and then back to OFF.
4. Remove the second working key and insert the new key within ten seconds. Turn it to ON (RUN) and leave it for one second before turning it back to OFF.
5. The security light will illuminate for three seconds to confirm that the new key has been successfully programmed.
Note: This procedure only programs the remote portion of the key/remote. Here are the additional steps:
1. Close all doors, then open the driver’s door and press the UNLOCK button on the driver’s door panel while the door is open and insert the key into the ignition.
2. Turn the ignition from OFF to RUN eight times within ten seconds, with the eighth time ending in the RUN position. The door locks will cycle to confirm programming mode.
3. Within 20 seconds, press any button on the first keyless remote. The door locks will cycle to confirm programming.
4. Within 20 seconds, press any button on the second keyless remote. The door locks will cycle again to confirm programming.
5. Turn the ignition to OFF. The locks will cycle again to indicate the end of programming mode.
