How to Program a 2009 Cadillac STS Ignition Smart Chip Key Transponder

Step by Step How to Programming Instructions:

(Canadian Owners Refer to Locksmith or Dealer):

1. Ensure the vehicle is off.
2. Place a known key fob and the new un-programmed key fob inside the vehicle.
3. At the rear of the vehicle, insert the vehicle key into the rear compartment lock cylinder above the license plate. Open and close the trunk, cycling the key five times within 5 seconds.
4. The Driver Information Center (DIC) will display: “READY FOR FOB X (X = fob 2, 3, or 4).”
5. Put the new un-programmed key fob in the glove box fob pocket with the buttons facing the passenger side.
6. A beep will sound, and the DIC will display: “READY FOR FOB X (X = fob 3 or 4)” or “MAX FOBS LEARNED.”
7. Press the OFF/ACC portion of the ignition switch to exit programming mode.
8. Test the remote.

Programming without a Recognized Transmitter (Canadian Owners Refer to Locksmith or Dealer):

1. Ensure the vehicle is off.
2. Place the new un-programmed key fob in the glove box transmitter pocket with the buttons facing the passenger side.
3. At the rear of the vehicle, insert the vehicle key into the rear compartment lock cylinder above the license plate. Open and close the trunk, cycling the key five times within 5 seconds.
4. The DIC message will display “OFF-ACCESSORY TO LEARN.”
5. Press the ignition switch.
6. The DIC will read “WAIT 10 MINUTES” and count down to zero, one minute at a time.
7. The DIC will display “OFF-ACCESSORY TO LEARN” again.
8. Press the ignition switch.
9. Repeat steps 6-8 twice more until the DIC displays “READY FOR FOB #1.” At this point, all previously programmed key fobs are erased.
10. Once the key fob is recognized and programmed, a beep will sound, and the DIC will display “READY FOR FOB #2.”
11. If you have additional key fobs to program, replace key fob #1 with key fob #2 in the pocket. Repeat this process until up to 4 key fobs have been programmed.
12. The DIC will then display “MAX # FOBS LEARNED” and exit programming mode. When finished, press the ignition switch.
