How to Program a 1999 Buick Park Avenue Ignition Chip Key Transponder

Step by Step How to Programming Instructions:

These programming procedures apply only to vehicles built in the USA.

Can I program a new key myself if I don’t have any working keys?
Yes, follow these instructions:

1. Insert the new key into the ignition cylinder and turn it to the ON position (without cranking the engine). The security light on the dash will illuminate and remain on for ten minutes. Once the security light goes out, you have one minute to proceed to the next step.
2. Turn the ignition cylinder to OFF and then back to the ON position. The security light on the dash will illuminate again and remain on for another ten minutes. Once the security light goes out, you have one minute to proceed to the next step.
3. Repeat step 2: Turn the ignition cylinder to OFF and then back to the ON position. The security light on the dash will illuminate and remain on for another ten minutes.
4. After the security light has turned off for the third time, turn the key off and remove it from the ignition. The key is now programmed, and all other keys have been erased.
5. Insert the programmed key and start the vehicle to test it.

If you need to program a duplicate key for the vehicle, follow these steps:

1. Insert an existing programmed working key into the ignition cylinder.
2. Turn the ignition to the ON position and then back to OFF.
3. Remove the existing key, and within ten seconds, insert the new key and turn it to the ON position.
4. The security light will illuminate for two seconds to indicate successful programming of the key. Remove the key from the ignition.
5. Insert the programmed key and start the vehicle to test it.
