How to Program a 2004 Chrysler Sebring Convertible Ignition Chip Key Transponder

Step by Step How to Programming Instructions:

If your Tahoe uses separate key and remote, follow these steps to add a key to the system:

1. Insert the first programmed key into the ignition and turn it on.
2. Turn the ignition off and remove the key.
3. Quickly, within five seconds, insert the second programmed key into the ignition and turn it on.
4. Turn the ignition off and remove the key.
5. Insert the new key to be programmed and turn the ignition on within five seconds. The security light will turn off once the key is programmed.
6. Repeat Steps 1–5 for additional keys.

If you have a separate key and remote and all keys are lost without any programmed keys available, follow the procedure below:

Programming without Two Programmed Keys:
(Note: Canadian regulations may require dealer assistance.)

1. Insert the new vehicle key into the ignition.
2. Turn the ignition on. The security light will illuminate.
3. Wait for 10 minutes until the security light turns off.
4. Turn the ignition off.
5. Repeat Steps 2–4 two more times. After the third time, turn the ignition on; the key is programmed, and previously programmed keys won’t work.
6. To program the second key, turn the ignition off, insert the second key, and turn the ignition on. After programming two keys, follow the “Programming with Two Recognized Keys” procedure for any remaining keys.

For vehicles equipped with the Smart Key System (Keyless Access Vehicles Only):

Programming with Recognized Transmitters:
(Applies when two recognized transmitters are available.)

1. Remove the key from the recognized transmitter.
2. Place both recognized transmitters nearby.
3. Insert the vehicle key into the driver door handle’s key lock cylinder and turn it counterclockwise five times within 10 seconds. The DIC will display “READY FOR REMOTE #3, 4, 5,” etc.
4. Place the new transmitter in the transmitter pocket/insert.
5. Press ENGINE START/STOP. When the transmitter is learned, the DIC will prompt for the next transmitter.
6. Remove the transmitter from the pocket and press Unlock or Lock. Repeat for additional transmitters. Press and hold ENGINE START/STOP for about 12 seconds to exit programming mode.
7. Return the key to the transmitter.

For programming without recognized transmitters:

Follow these steps:

1. Remove the vehicle key from the transmitter.
2. Insert the vehicle key into the driver door handle’s key lock cylinder and turn it counterclockwise five times within 10 seconds. The DIC will display “REMOTE LEARN PENDING, PLEASE WAIT.”
3. After 10 minutes, the DIC will prompt to press ENGINE START/STOP. Repeat this step two more times. After the third time, previously known transmitters won’t work.
4. Place the new transmitter in the pocket/insert.
5. Press ENGINE START/STOP. The DIC will indicate readiness for the next transmitter.
6. Remove the transmitter and press Unlock or Lock. Repeat for additional transmitters. Press and hold ENGINE START/STOP for about 12 seconds to exit programming mode.
7. Return the key to the transmitter.
