Sandhurst The Sandhurst area is wonderful neighborhood located off Green Cove Road in South Huntsville. There are children of all ages throughout the neighborhood. It has a small neighborhood feel which the children love because they won’t have to travel far to spend time with friends. The houses range from $90,000 to $130,000 in the original neighborhood, but the neighborhood is expanding with newer houses starting at $180,000. Rental houses range from $600 to $800 a month which is considerably less compared to other areas. The houses may be a bit smaller than houses in other neighborhoods, but the neighborhood makes up for that in being a family oriented area. The elementary school is Farley which is one of the best schools in Huntsville. The staff is always courteous and helpful. They really do care about each child that comes through their school and welcome parent participation. The middle school is Challenger Middle. The teachers really do care about the students. Although the principal can be quite strict, she has your child’s safety as top priority which is more than can be said for other middle school principals in the area. Virgil Grissom High School is the high school Sandhurst is zoned for. There are several bus stops in the neighborhood that pick up children to take to Grissom. In 2007, Grissom received a National School of Excellence award from the US Department of Education and continue to strive for academic excellence.
