Step-by-Step Programming Instructions:

NOTE: These instructions may appear complex, but they are straightforward if you read and understand them before beginning! Don’t worry if you don’t get it right the first time; you can repeat the process as needed.

1. Depending on your key or remote style, you’ll first need to remove the back cover. For a separate remote, use a bladed screwdriver; for a remote head key, unscrew the back cover with a small Phillips screwdriver.

2. Find the ID number inside the remote and write it down. It’s an 8-digit number. If there are two rows, use the one with numbers only, no letters. For a separate remote, this process fully programs your remote. For a remote head key, this only programs the remote; you’ll need to have the key cut and transponder programmed at the dealer for the car to start.

3. Ensure all doors, including the trunk, are closed.

4. Sit in the driver’s seat and close the door (all doors shut), then proceed immediately to step 5.

5. Turn the ignition from LOCK to ON 10 times within 15 seconds. The vehicle will respond with flashing lights and an audible tone to confirm it’s in programming mode. If you don’t see the lights or hear the noise, exit the vehicle and start over.

6. Open then close the driver’s side door; the noise will continue to confirm the vehicle is still in programming mode.

7. Refer back to the 8-digit code. While you hear the noise, on the driver’s side door panel, press the LOCK button the number of times as the first digit. Once pressed correctly, press UNLOCK to move to the next digit. Repeat this for all 8 digits. After the eighth digit, press UNLOCK once more. For example, if the code was 12345678, you’d press LOCK once, then UNLOCK, LOCK twice, then UNLOCK, and so on.

8. Repeat step 7. Once you enter the eighth digit, you’ll hear a tone for 30 seconds.

9. If you have additional remotes to program, repeat steps 5-8 for each one. If not, proceed to step 10.

10. Remove the key. Programming is now complete.
