Step-by-Step Programming Instructions:

Programming with Two Recognized Keys:

1. Insert the original, already programmed key into the ignition and turn it on.
2. Turn the ignition off and remove the key.
3. Quickly, within five seconds, insert the second original already programmed key into the ignition and turn it on.
4. Turn the ignition off and remove the key.
5. Insert the new key to be programmed and turn the ignition on within five seconds. The security light will turn off once the key has been programmed.
6. Repeat Steps 1–5 if additional keys need to be programmed.

Programming without Two Recognized Keys:

To program a new key to the vehicle when two recognized keys are not available, follow these steps:

1. Insert the new vehicle key into the ignition.
2. Turn the ignition on. The security light will come on.
3. Wait for 10 minutes until the security light turns off.
4. Turn the ignition off.
5. Repeat Steps 2–4 two more times. After the third time, turn the ignition on; the key is learned, and all previously known keys will no longer work with the vehicle.
6. To program the second key, turn the ignition off and insert the second key to be learned and turn the ignition on. After the two keys are learned, remaining keys can be learned by following the procedure in “Programming with Two Recognized Keys.”

Programming with Recognized Transmitters (Smart Key):

A new transmitter can be programmed to the vehicle when there are two recognized transmitters. To program, ensure the vehicle is off, and all transmitters, both currently recognized and new, are with you. Follow these steps:

1. Place the two recognized transmitters in the front cupholder.
2. Insert the vehicle key of the new transmitter into the key lock cylinder on the outside of the driver door and turn the key counterclockwise five times within 10 seconds. The Driver Information Center (DIC) displays READY FOR REMOTE #2, 3, 4, or 5.
3. Place the new transmitter into the front cupholder.
4. Press ENGINE START/STOP. When the transmitter is learned, the DIC will indicate readiness to program the next transmitter.
5. Remove the transmitter from the front cupholder and press unlock. To program additional transmitters, repeat Steps 3–5. Once all transmitters are programmed, press and hold ENGINE START/STOP for 10 seconds to exit programming mode.

Programming without Recognized Transmitters (Smart Key):

If two currently recognized transmitters are not available, follow these steps to program up to eight transmitters:

1. Insert the vehicle key of the transmitter into the key lock cylinder on the outside of the driver door and turn the key counterclockwise five times within 10 seconds. The DIC displays REMOTE LEARN PENDING, PLEASE WAIT.
2. Wait for 10 minutes until the DIC displays PRESS ENGINE START BUTTON TO LEARN, then press ENGINE START/STOP. The DIC will again display REMOTE LEARN PENDING, PLEASE WAIT.
3. Repeat Step 2 two additional times. After the third time, all previously known transmitters will no longer work with the vehicle. Remaining transmitters can be relearned during the next steps. The DIC should now display READY FOR REMOTE #1.
4. Place the new transmitter into the front cupholder.
5. Press ENGINE START/STOP. When the transmitter is learned, the DIC will indicate readiness to program the next transmitter.
6. Remove the transmitter from the front cupholder and press unlock. To program additional transmitters, repeat Steps 4–6. Once all additional transmitters are programmed, press and hold ENGINE START/STOP for 10 seconds to exit programming mode.
