Step-by-Step Programming Instructions:

Programming with Two Recognized Keys:
To add a new key, follow these steps:

1. Place the original, already programmed key into the ignition and turn it to the on position without starting the vehicle.
2. Turn off the ignition and remove the key.
3. Quickly, within five seconds, insert the second original programmed key into the ignition and turn it to the on position without starting the vehicle.
4. Turn off the ignition and remove the key.
5. Insert the new key to be programmed within five seconds and turn it to the on position without starting the vehicle. The security light will turn off once the key is programmed.
6. Repeat these steps if more keys need to be programmed.

Programming without a Recognized Key:
If you don’t have a recognized key available, follow these steps:

1. Insert the new vehicle key into the ignition.
2. Turn the ignition to the on position without starting the vehicle. The security light will illuminate.
3. Wait for 10 minutes until the security light turns off.
4. Turn the ignition off.
5. Repeat steps 2–4 two more times. After the third time, turn the ignition to the on position without starting the vehicle; the key will be learned, and all previously known keys will no longer work with the vehicle.
6. To program the second key, turn the ignition off and insert the second key to be learned, then turn the ignition to the on position without starting the vehicle. After the two keys are learned, remaining keys can be learned by following the procedure in “Programming with Two Recognized Keys.”

If your Spark is equipped with the Smart Key Keyless Access System:
There is no manual onboard procedure to program a keyless remote to this vehicle. Special equipment is required to connect to the vehicle to program the remote. Contact a locksmith in your area for assistance.
