Step-by-Step Programming Instructions:

Here’s a summarized version of the instructions for programming keys for USA-built and Canadian-built Canyons:

For USA-built Canyon (No Chip Key Transponder System):
– No programming required for ignition key.
– If all keys are lost, contact a locksmith to originate a new ignition key.

For Canadian-built Canyon (Equipped with Chip Key):
– Only a locksmith or dealership can service the theft-deterrent system for new keys.
– Two current driver’s keys are required to program additional keys.
– Steps to program a new key:
1. Verify the new key has “PK3+” stamped on it.
2. Start the engine with the first current driver’s key. If it doesn’t start, seek service from the dealer/retailer.
3. After the engine starts, turn the key to LOCK/OFF and remove it.
4. Start the engine with the second current driver’s key within ten seconds of removing the previous key. Seek service if it doesn’t start.
5. After the engine starts, turn the key to LOCK/OFF and remove it. Insert the key to be programmed and turn it to ON/RUN within ten seconds.
6. The security light turns off once the key is programmed. Repeat if programming additional keys.

Note:If the security light comes on and stays on while driving, the theft-deterrent system needs servicing by the dealer/retailer.
