Step-by-Step Programming Instructions:

If you have a Mystique LS model built between 1997 and 02-1998 and you don’t have any working keys, you can still program a new key yourself. Follow these steps after having a Locksmith cut the transponder key:

1. Insert the new key into the ignition and turn it to the ON position (as far as you can go without cranking the engine). The security light on the dashboard will flash for fifteen minutes.
2. When the security light stops flashing, turn the ignition OFF and then back to the ON position. The security light will flash for another fifteen minutes.
3. Repeat the process of turning the ignition OFF and then back to the ON position once more. The security light will flash for an additional fifteen minutes.
4. After the security light stops flashing for the third time, turn the key to the OFF position. Then, turn the key to the ON position again. The security light should stop flashing, indicating that the new key has been successfully programmed.
5. Finally, start the vehicle to test the new key.

Now, if you have one working key and need to program a second key yourself, follow these instructions:

1. After having a Locksmith cut the transponder key, insert the existing working key into the ignition and turn it to the ON position, then back to the OFF position.
2. Within 5 seconds, insert the new key into the ignition and turn it to the ON position. The security light will illuminate for 2 seconds, indicating successful programming.
3. Turn the key to the OFF position.
4. Start the vehicle to test the new key.
